It feels like summer! What are you going to learn in the next 3 months? Citizen Scholar is taking up residence at Freeside Atlanta for the month of June to kick off the next session of classes. We’re teaching some basics to get you, your brand or your idea off the ground and giving some valuable information to all you would do-gooders about how to start a nonprofit. Also check out Freeside’s summer classes ranging from electronics to mold making. Is there something you want to teach? Pitch your class! It’s a cool space- we hope you’ll stop by!

We admit, Citizen Scholar went into hibernation in the cold, dark Atlanta February. Recently, the city seems to have reawakened, as CSA’s inbox is of pokes and prods and questions about when the spring session will begin. Well folks, that’s party up to you! What do you want to teach? We’re putting together classes on Nonprofit startup, Kickstarter, Social Media, WordPress, Event Planning and Juicing. What can you share with the world? Citizen Scholar & MASS Collective = Effervescent evening!

Thanks to all who attended, and to MASS Collective for hosting a Citizen Scholar class on fermentation. We all learned quite a bit more than expected about bubbles and fizz, thanks to the brilliant Chris Carter. It was a great evening to get to know everyone, see the wonderful new space MASS Collective is working on, and get caught up on what’s happening with Atlanta’s creative/ intellectual/maker community. Keep an eye out for future collaborations between Citizen Scholar and the Maker community, as we have a ‘Maker’s Series’ of classes in the works! And, as always, if you have something to teach, we want to learn!

Great Meetup Last Night!

Thanks to all who came out to Victory Sandwich Bar last night to learn about Citizen Scholar, Atlanta’s pop-up community school. What an enthusiastic and talented group! Looking forward to classes on marketing, film production, android programming, painting, ceramics, Paleo, computer literacy, conversational spanish, marketing.. and this was just from one session!!

We had a chance to discuss expanding classes to include in-depth workshops and series, shared ideas about venues and neighborhoods, and all agreed that this effort will be propelled by the community! You can help out by spreading the word through your social networks and real-life friends (we have those still, right!) Over the next few weeks, we’ll begin crafting the spring schedule, nail down our best practices and hopefully, recruit a few more of Atlanta’s best and brightest. -That’s certainly who was attendance last night!
